About Cozy & Content – A Cozy North Carolina Bookstore with a Story

Cozy & Content was founded in 2020 by Jennifer and Samantha, two friends who met while working together and dreamed of creating a calm, welcoming space filled with books, laughter, and community. Their shared love of reading (and a desire for a cozy hangout every day) inspired them to open a bookstore in Franklin, North Carolina where everyone could feel at home.

The Cats of Cozy & Content

The bookstore’s heart began with Buddy, their first store cat. A rescued shelter cat who had been declawed by previous owners, Buddy struggled with anxiety until Jennifer adopted him and gave him the pampered life he deserved. His confidence quickly returned—along with his larger-than-life ego.

But a bookstore needs a cat, so the search continued. During a trip to Cats at Play Café in Asheville, NC, they met Stormy, a friendly gray-and-cream tabby who instantly stole their hearts. Stormy quickly became a beloved fixture at the shop, greeting visitors and soaking up all the attention.

Then, in October 2023, Pumpkin appeared outside the store—bold, beautiful, and hungry. “JENNIFER, there’s a BEAUTIFUL cat outside!” Samantha called. Pumpkin strolled right in, made herself at home, and never left. Her sassy personality and perfect timing earned her the name Pumpkin Spice.

Today, Stormy and Pumpkin are the official store cats of Cozy & Content, greeting customers, napping on the bookshelves, and charming every visitor who walks through the door.

Meet the Owners

Jennifer lives with her husband, Troy, and their son, Jackson, along with Buddy the cat—who still insists breakfast happens at 5 AM sharp.

Samantha and her husband, Dustin, are parents to baby Elena (Ellie), two big dogs (Loki and Apollo), a cat (Naya), and a bird (Arya). Their home is full of love, laughter, and noise.

Together, Jennifer and Samantha continue to make Cozy & Content Books a warm, community-driven space for book lovers, families, and fellow cat enthusiasts across Western North Carolina.
